Vilamoura (H) 7th November 2009

Won 3.5-1.5   Points:7

The team fall at the last hurdle!

Vilamoura (A) 29th October 2009

Lost 4-1  Points:2

This was the first leg of the Final against the winners of group A. Our team were slightly surprised to find themselves playing off the white tees, and never quite recovered. A good win, however, for the team of Bill Collins and François Piguet at least leaves some hope for the return leg at Quinta on 7th November.

Levante (H) 23rd October 2009

Win 4.5-1.5  Points:9

Thats all folks!! The last match of the regular season and another resounding win for CGQL. Its now all down to the final home and away matches against Vilamoura - the winenrs of League A.

Levante (A) 15th October 2009

Win 3.5-1.5  Points:9

This match completes the away leg of the series, with the team recording an astonishing record of played 7, won 5, drew 1 and lost 1. Never, in the history of the club, have the golfers of CGQL travelled so well!!

Penina (A) 8th October 2009

Win 3-2  Points:8

Another away victory sees Seamus Elmore's team get another 2 bonus points to top up their 6 points for 2 wins and 2 halves. the wins came courtesy of Wilson & Homersham and Allsop & Denise Grayson.

Quinta do Vale (H) 2nd October 2009

Win 4.5-1.5  Points:9

Seamus Elmore has led his team to one more victory, this time against Quinta do Vale at home. Wins across the board for the Allsops (2&1), Hubbard & Homersham (2&1), and Piguet and Collins (2up).

Salgados (A) 24th September 2009

Win 3-2  Points:8

A great win from Captain Seamus and his team on the tricky waterbound course of Salgados.

Pinheiros Altos (H) 5th September 2009

Win 3.5-1.5  Points:7

We start the Autumn swing with another victory. We stil lead the League but we are only 4 points ahead of Vale de Lobo with one game in hand. This will run to the wire!

Vale do Lobo (H) 26th July 2009

Win 3-2  Points:6

This was a very tight match against the currently 2nd ranked team in League B. Over two matches there has only been a one pairings difference between both sides. The winners this time were the partnership of Fitch and Reed, and Roger Kidd and Bob Pickles. Elmore and Farrall managed a half as did Bernard Cooper and Brian Hubbard. All the matches went at least to the 16th hole.

Vale do Lobo (A) 12th June 2009

Draw 2.5-2.5  Points:6

The glorious 12th of June saw Elmore and Farrall back to winning ways. Victory also for Roger Kidd and Hans Peter Vogt. The half point was won by Grahm Fitch and Colin Reid. With the extra bonus point for an away half the team now move into first place in Group B.

Quinta do Vale (A) 9th June 2009

Lost 3-2  Points:4

This defeat really hurts, and it showed on the faces of the battle weary team as they returned from the Spanish border. Four of th five matches were settle on the 18th green. Congratulations to the Pile's and the Homersham/Hubbard combination for their wins on a new and unfamiliar course.

Salgados (H) 21st May 2009

Won 4-1  Points:8

In all the excitement of theses victories we have forgotten to mention what a formidable pair Elmore and Farrall have become. Unbeaten now in five outings they have become the pillar on which this successful run of team victories is built. James Kidd and Brian Hubard hammered the opposition 6&5 for a second large win within a week, and the Allsops continued their winning run as did the Fitch/Reid partnership.

Penina (H) 15th May 2009

Won 5-0  Points:10

Elmore's team continue to go from strength to strength as they beat the opposition by 5 games to nil. The games were slightly closer than the overall score suggests, with the Allsops winning 1up, and the Elmore/Farrall pairing and the Hendersons winning by 2 and 1. Francois Piguet and Bill Collins won by 3 and 1, and Brian Hubbard and James Kidd won by 7 and 5.

Interim League Positions at 7th May 2009

Before we get too carried away with our excellent early results, it is as well to see what our future opponents are up to. Early standings show that Vale de Lobo and Quinta do Vale are going to be the toughest two teams to beat this year. They are both averaging above 6 points per match after 4 matches. Pinheiros Altos do not look like the force that they have been in recent years, but Salgados always look good on their home track. However, they have suffered the only 'bagel' so far this year - 10-0 loss away to Vale de Lobo!

Vila Sol (H) 1st May 2009

Won 3-2  Points:6

As the Americans would say we are now 'three and O'. Seamus Elmore's all-conquering heroes win yet another match in the Algarve Interclub League. Coming back for more punishment this week were Vila Sol. The Captain and Vice Captain put in another winning performance as did the Hendersons (1up) and rookie pairing Michael and Marianne Pile (2&1). Bring it on!

Vila Sol (A) 16th April 2009

Won 3-2  Points:8

Two wins in a row and now the paying public is demanding more! David and Hazel Allsop won the first match 2&1, but the Pickles went down on the 18th to level the match. The Captain and Vicee captain did their stuff with a 3&2 victory, and Tony Bown and Brian Hubbard saw the team home with 4&3 win in the 4th match. Unfortunately Martin Wilson and Ian Henderson were unable to put the icing on the cake in fifth match, but a 3-2 win saw CGQL go into lunch very happy.

Pinheiros Altos (a) 2nd April 2009

Won 3-2 Points:8

There was trepidation going into this match as it was the first match under the Captaincy of Seamus Elmore. Thanks to the annual Ben Hogan Trophy, Quinta players are getting more used to the Pinheiros course, and our results are steadily improving. The winning pairs were David Homersham and David Arnold (2 up), Seamus Elmore and George Farrall (1up) and ian & Sharon Henderson (4&3).
